MG ZR lowered - but why so bumpy???

I've recently lowered my MG ZR 30mm, which isn't a great deal, and it's so bumpy the suspension doesn't move at all over bumps, and u really have to brace yourself if you know ur approaching any kind of bump/uneven surface!! I took it to a place near me and paid £250 for it to be done, but dont understand why its so rigid?? I've had quite a few lowered cars before and never experienced anything quite like this??

Any info would be brill??

do you know the exact springs you've got on it?
because i heard that AVO's can be really stiff on the ZR's, and that why ill be getting the Xpower ones when i can afford to!

To be totally honest no i haven't got a clue....which doesn't help i know!!! But I just took it and they ordered what they had to!!

AVO's are a 40mm drop, unless they are the newer ones which are about 35mm drop, to get just a 30mm drop you'd be looking at some other makes, like suggested Xpowers or something.

What colour are the springs for a start?

MG ZR suspension is already pretty stiff, and ive heard lowering it makes it a fair bit worse, but it shouldnt be like you describe i assume. There is a bedding in time for springs though, about a month for them to fully settle.

If you arent happy id have it back to the garage to get them to check it over.

well the zr's are quite low any way
so when lowered even more will give that affect
especialy if you have ony had springs fitted also the standard dampers on lowerd springs will just bottom out hence no ride qulity
an if you have a full suspention kit ie springs and dampers the check if the dampers are adjustable it could be that they are on the harest setting

lol.....yeah it did include the springs!! The springs are red, had it done probably about 6 months ago now....do u reckon they would take a look at it cause its been 6 months??

Yeah just had springs fitted, thanks very much for the advice!!

lol thats not so bad then, was about to faint if that was just labour, fitted mine myself so had no idea of the price.

if you explain that the work was done where you got them from and that your having trouble, i should imagine they would at least have a quick look round the car to see if there isnt anything else a miss.

lol.......i think i would of as well!!! I didnt know anybody that knew how to fit them, so just decided to pay the money and get them done!!! lol

no problem ive read a lot about ZR's and 25's since ive owned mine, so if you get any problems give me a shout! ive had mine to bits a few times too hehe so ive got pictures of most things if you need any for reference.
