Coupe Verdict: What would you do?

OK just been to JD Performance, a Subaru specialist in derby but do any car and give you a spot on no-bullshit service. I needed a second opinion on the piston rings, and they can confirm its them, or to be exact "piston rings and valve stem oil seals".

Now my options are as follows;

Run it as it is
Keeping topping it up with oil, risk the next MOT failure (July '09)

Fix the current engine
Been quoted around £1k - £1.5k

Fit reconditioned engine
Been quoted £350 to fit an engine, but then add the price of the engine itself that will be anything from £200 - can be risky

Sell it
As it is, then go for something else

Part Exchange it
Trade in for something else


Things to bear in mind, the car cost me £2750 in July 2007, has 84k on the clock, is a 1.6, and is a 1999

If Im honest in sale of the car, I reckon it would only fetch about 1.5k, probably max <!-- s:? --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_confused.gif" alt="" title="Confused" /><!-- s:? -->

I have no idea tbh, spending over 1k on the coupes engine already has left me pretty strapped for cash, so I wont have much to spend. Never looked at other cars

For the time being it looks as if I may stick with it and see what happens in the 10months up to the MOT I dunno

for someone on minimum wage, and a errrr 'rough' insurance history, i think a mr2 would be out of my league - although i would love one!
