unless you have some decent money to chuck at some speakers i would leave the sub in, otherwise you will never be satisfied with the bass

Agree with Lewys, hard to get anything that comes close to subs. Underseat sub might do a slightly better job but still not as good
I have amped 17cm pioneer components I thought would take up the slack for bass while I took out my subs, they haven't :(

I had an under seat sub ..... never actually fitted it and tried it out mind ...... but still I think the technology has advanced A LOT in the last year, so would possibly be worth a shout! definitely go for the in phase one though, from reviews etc. its the one to go for!

You also have to think about stereo set up as well. A good head unit will allow for detailed set-up so you can for example have rear speakers for bass and front speakers for treble.

In my astra i didnt have a sub, just 6x9's and door speakers (but i wouldnt even recommend 6x9's!) ..... I had a top of the range sony head unit and played with it for hours, until I was happy with it and it sounded amazing, even without a sub! dont get me wrong it wasnt blow your nipples off bass but the sound quality was brilliant!
