is the remote turn on for most in-car amps 5v?

i plan to use my sub/amps in my house next year. got a 12v dc fsource for the amp main power sorted, just need the remote

plan on using a modified 5v dc wall charger or something similar...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT

something along these lines

any one else done this? any suggestions?

I might get a rover tuner to tune my gt40 turbo on my left testicle to run 400000 bhp lol

Why not just buy a proper surround sound kit? :P

iirc my remote power was exactly the same as my PC fan... if that helps :P

I think it's 12v low current, few mA or something.

Question though, where'd you get a DC power supply with enough power to feed 30A+ into your amp?

i thought the remote turn on was 5v... as it comes off the headunit with a tiny wire...

have a mains inverter, if thats what they are called... plugs into the wall... but has 12v terminals on it like a car battery...

my mate whos it is ill be using used to work at halfords... its one of the power supplies they use to power the display audio parts in store. so its made for the job

You should stick that on eBay, they're well expensive!!

Just be careful though, there's two types of those used in our audio boards - one upto 10A which powers the units and a more powerful one designed to run the amps.

If it's the 10A one it won't run an amp with any meaning.

lol cheers. i have a feeling its one of the big ones though, it is pretty hefty...

i used my r/c car charger off it on 12v... ran that at 5.5amps i think

i presume it can handle it, if not ill get a car battery lol :)
