Look up how much your alternator can take aswell as uprating the battery...

If Pacman had affected us as kids we'd be running around in dark rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music.

Mate what are you lookin for? Speaker sizes? I take it you got your sub and amps right?? I always run 4ga on all my systems but i use proper electrical wire high temp not the stuff you get from halfords, its dear but will go on any future expansion u plan to do! Connect that to a power cap Then a simple power block in the boot with 2 fuses dependin on how many amps you wanna run and thats the power taken care of!! If u amp speakers be very carefull with ur set up cause the power ratins on these things are difficult to explain and understand lol if you wanna talk more about it or wanna know anythin talk to me at one of the meets i can give you some good advice on what you wanna buy!! Spence built his with my advice and i set it up! As for batterys if you just buy a larger diesel one that is normally enough to support a bangin system!! As for alternators Ive never blown one and i dont know how a sound system causes it but its better to find out first!

as tris said theres never any need to downgrade your wiring - the less resistance the better and the less times you have to rip up your interior too the better! So always put the best in first time round. As for alternator it will put more strain on it and lower its life span but at the watts you'll be running (& how often?) it wont be an immediate worry imo

I think most things I'd add have been said, although looking at your figures it seems as though a 1F cap should be enough.

Additionally, fitting alternators from larger cars is normally required when you run a larger capacity battery - if you fit a 700 amp diesel batter for example, and you've only got a 1200 - how's the stock alternator going to charge it?

Alternatively, and if you have the wedge, you can use a split charging relay (from a cavaran accessory shop) and a deep cycle battery in the boot.

By the way, all these power figures - I'm assuming they're maximum power, not RMS?

I'd check your calculations once you know the RMS figures of all components - it's the most accurate way of calculating your requirements.

you don't need a big wedge for a split charging relay, can source them from caravan/shed breakers. or build your own ;)

calarion HU
Ill be replacing my Edge Amp so thats for sale
keeping my 12" Sub 300rms
and looking into hertz 6x9's
and hearts 1200w amp i think maybe something abit bigger to run the 6x9s easily
using a 1800w wiring kit with a #4 gauge power cable from battery to boot, and all in a custom boot build so once i get home i will start getting figures together and start my shopping list
