Torsion bars?

When lowering, im going to buy new springs for the front, lower and stiffer. But the rear has a torsion bar, when lowered and there's weight in the car will it make the back end grind out? If so is it possible to buy a new torsion bar which is stiffer and wont budge when theres weight on the back end?

depending on how old your car is the torsion bar will be a b*****D to get out, bit of heat and a sledge hammer under the car will do the trick.
i've heard of torsion bars snapping but thats if you lower it to the extremes then think you can have the same amount of weight in the car.

i got a quote from peugeot specialist in nuneaton, to fit my springs and torsion bar on my 106 and that was only 100 quid, thats pretty cheap tbh and they know there stuff

should be no problem.. just uprate the shocks at the back for safe measures..

Assuming by "grinding" you mean the wheels scrubbing the arches, it totally depends on the car, the tyre size, the offset...

There's no way you can stop the torsion bar moving, otherwise you'd have no suspension on the back. If you want to go mega low, choose smaller wheels and don't carry rear passengers

I've lowered it now, took it down 40mm looks good and doesnt rub the arch. The front splitter scrapes when nose down out of speed bumps, but you gotta live with it aint ya.
