I would only have a v6, or the diesel lump. The v6 is still a k-series but is better than the 4pots. The diesel is an l-series and not bad engines. They sound quite "diesel-ish" though, but can get quite comfy power out of them.

Only option wud be is a 1.8 k series as insurance and running costs wud be too much for me to fund.... Although since the post I have just bought some little bits for the coupe Lol! So u can tell I dunno if to get rid <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: --> .. Just been one of those days where anything I can find to pick at with it... Bumpy ride.. slight blow on exhaust middle clamp... The roof! Etc

If youre still buying for it, then keep it :)
Its when you stop you know your hearts gone!

My entire cars lacquer was peeling so thats when I decided to ditch it as I couldnt justify the cost of a full respray, plus I kept going through engines thanks to a shoddy garage - made me lose faith in the car

the main reason for wanting to get rid is bodywork mainly.. majority of it is spot on no rust, just lacquer peel on rear bumper and roof but got a roll of yellow carbon to cover the roof... changed the bonnet once but now thats got little like splodges appearing under the paint :( ... few more around it too, which make me think that eventually its gonna peel and cant afford to get it all sorted.. due an mot shortly so may c what comes bk on that b4 making any decisions

Have you tried looking around to insure the ZS180 as they are not as bad to insure as you may think.

If you only want the 1.8 your probably best looking at the ZR model. The K series is in fact a very good engine, caterham and lotus used it along with land rover for a long time. It just requires regular proper maintenance or like any car things start to fail.

The diesel is a solid engine and pretty tough/reliable. Had one myself in a rover 400 before I bought a ZS180 ;)

V6... Points to look at are the vis valves going (easily fixed) and ensuring cam belt has been changed on time along with the water pump. Easily the best car Ive owned, although I think the subaru I just got may outdo it :)
