2012 MOT Rule changes

Some of the rules are changing, apparently these are some of the new additions:

1. Removing the ign key and making sure the steering locks
2. Any dash warning light not working or staying on,even brake fluid light, any light.
3. All ball joint boots not to have any splits in them
4. Inner cv boots
5. Driver's seat must adjust forward and back.
6. Any lens that has had light reduced (smoked lenses)
7. Corroded power steering pipes inc coolers
8. Catalytic converter missing (deemed to be illegal as from next year)
9. Fitment of HIDs to non-hid cars (need to have self-levelling and wash lights to have HIDs)

i herd yesterday that new cars will wait 4 years until mot and cars between 4 and 10 years old have a mot every 2 yrs and cars over 10 will be as normal

for HID's i think people will change them over to normal bulbs for the MOT and then change back after they pass it, people are doing this now so it will carry on

2. Any dash warning light not working or staying on,even brake fluid light, any light. - thats all my cars failed then

5. Driver's seat must adjust forward and back. - WHY? what does that have to be an MOT feature ...no buckets then
