I have changed the gearbox in my ibiza within the last couple of weeks. I have a 1.4 ABD engine, and I used a gearbox from a 1.3 mk4 Polo. I had to remove some extra brackets at the back of the gearbox, and use the ibiza engine/gearbox mount instead of the polo one, but that fitted fine.

I was told that any 1.0 to 1.6 litre ibiza or polo should have the same gearbox, although I can't guarantee it.

It fitted straight up, and the ratios appear to be the same, or at least I have not noticed any difference in engine speed compared to road speed in each gear before and after the gearbox swap.

The guy that told me was a mechanic in an independant garage, and he told me they were all the same. I can't guarantee it, but the polo gearbox looks, fits and works the same as my ibiza one did.
