Holy Gear Box

If Pacman had affected us as kids we'd be running around in dark rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music.

Almost two weeks ago, i was pulling out of a junction and as i was changing into second there was a loud bang and clatter. Engine stalls and i manage to roll it to a safe place. Restarting the engine fine, once put into gear and lift clutch it kept stalling.
Recovered to the garage, bad news gearbox gone. £450 + VAT for a second hand one. Luckily i tracked a place down on the net, which strip fords. Got a new box for £125+VAT (i paid VAT due to paying on card). I can highly recomend the guys at http://www.thefordcentre.com/ loads of ford parts + other makes too! They are located J6 of the M6, right by villa park.
It also needed a new clutch as there was a chunk taken out. While it was at the garage a couple of cogs dropped out the gearbox too!
All in all cost about £550 not too bad for what happend, bet if i'd taken it to Fords they'd of charged me £2k. Worst of all it was 1 Month out of Warranty!
Am writing a letter to Allen ford + Ford UK as a complaint as this shouldnt of happened on a 3yr/40k car. Its not even as if i have driven the car hard!
