430 mile round trip just to view it but damn it was worth it! got a lift from carlisle to dumfries in what can only be described as one of the most sexual focus RS's ive seen, and if you know the roads near the scottish borders you will know these are long straights with the odd bend, the scenery was great n the weather was spot on and the RS just made it unforgettable lol
dave owns a bussiness makin racking for scrap cars but as a side bussiness/hobby he builds track cars, race cars and the odd show car with some help from a chap named Rich.
all these cars are created in there spare time and all the parts including floor pans engines etc come direct from a close friend of daves... the owner of M-sport
after i had looked around the yard Rich took me n my mate ross into the workshop i was gobsmacked to see stobarts JWRC fez sat on 1 of the ramps this was a real toy shop for the wealthy petrol head.
there was anouther RS receiving a wide arch kit, anouther focus sat on a rolling road which rich told me he had converted to a 4wheel drive floor pan and runnig gear, and was in the process of trying to build a gearbox to harness its 400 horses from its M-sport engine
on anouther ramp was a TVR tuscan lookin slightly bent, ''this is daves'' says rich ''he got a little over enthusiastic and put the back end in to a pylon''
after havin a good look round and a cuppa i was taken up to daves ''house'' which turned out to be a converted church <!-- s:shock: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_eek.gif" alt=":shock:" title="Shocked" /><!-- s:shock: -->
we parked up on his drive and instantly me n my mate ross was in awe of this daves car collection ''daves guna be half hour so have a nose around' says rich
this geezas got my dream bloody garage! on his drive was sat a bmw 7 series, volvo v70 and a focus st170 these are daves ''run arounds''
i walked over the other side of the drive to the open garage where my soon to be new car was sat coverd in dust from being stored. behind it was a very nice focus RS on anthracite rims and behind that a very rare K reg escort cossie in gleaming ash black both of these have been sent for the M-sport treatment n have obscene power figures
i was so busy oggling the mint cossie that i almost missed somthing under a cover. as i started to pull the cover up i was met by a huge whight rim with a single racing style nut and a huuuuuuge disk brake i pulled it back further n there infront of me was the real thing! a genuine ex-works 1999 focus decomissioned by ford n snapped up by dave to use as his track toy
all this made the grueling three hour trip to the top of the M6 all the more worth it and im goin back this sunday to collect my new pride an joy watch this space...
