Ok all,
I'm having a problem... I polish my car all happily... but due to the weather (cold and damp) the polish isn't setting correctly and taking the polish off is a MASSIVE PROBLEM... it's leaving my paintwork smeary. The blue on my car shows everything and it's annoying... this is the very reason i'm trying to polish it...
I'm using...
I find the Mer really good as it's a thick wax and stays on the car really well in an oily fassion... but atm it's just impossible to remove...
So... I also have...
I only use the Super Resin for quick fixes or shows though as i find when i apply it, it is easy to remove but is very powery and doesn't last more than a few days and once you wash again, it's just gone.
Come on people... give some winter polishing advice... or someone tell me they own a heated warehouse so i can come and polish it there.

If Pacman had affected us as kids we'd be running around in dark rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music.

The protection is ok... my issue is the fact i cannot remove the bloody stuff lol.
Using less wax would be ok but then it wouldn't be fully protected... a nice layer on the car keeps it all nice and snug in this seriously crappy weather and salty, gritty roads.
Most Focus RS are locked away in heated garages etc and don't ever see the light of day until mid summer when its sunny and dry roads... sod that... it's a Racing Sport, needs to be driven!!! Just obviously needs to be protected too...
So... back to problem... how can i polish in the cold lol.

Scotty Mer is absolute bollocks, sorry
SRP is great stuff, but only has a certain ammount of preotection, the max useage i got out of an application was two weeks... It is extremely good stuff though, apply two coats with 12 hours in between coats to get the maximum out of it, and work it into the area, don't use tons of it otherwise it's a waste, rub it in circular motions til the polish is slowly dissapearing then move on, SRP is dead easy to remove.
Then you will need the protective layer to lock in all that you have done and to give it some extra depth, i personally use AG High definition wax, brings out the paint work great grabs the mettalic flakes and really shows them off, this'll last around two months with regular washing. But if you don't want to spend too much i'd recomend Meguiars NXT 2.0 wax, it's very easy to use, apply, leave for around 20 minutes to cure on the paintwork, come back and buff off, IIRC it's about 15 quid, and i think you can get it from halfords
Polsihing and waxing in the cold is a PITA but using better products may help. I know this will sound stupid for this time of year, but don't park the car in the shade lol. and work a panel at a time it's loads easier
Hope this helps
Dan
