Law On Window Tints was created by slacker
WARNING: This information is for general information purposes only, Warwickshire Modified & Its staff do not take any responsibility for inaccurate information.

If the tints where applied:

Before 1st April 1985
The windscreen & front side windows Must allow at least 70% of light through

After 1st April 1985
The windscreen Must allow at least 75% of light through & front side windows 70%

If you do not follow these laws then your car is ILLEGAL and it may also invalidate your insurance.

Police sometimes carry a testing machine which calculates the amount of light which passes through your windows.

It is not tested as part of the MOT

If Pacman had affected us as kids we'd be running around in dark rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music.

however...

if the police stop you and test your tints, you are entitled to ask to see the calibration certificate of the tester, its very unlikely that they will be carrying this document with them!

also, new laws state that no tint is allowed at all on the windscreen or front sides!

but if you know your front side tints are illegal, then theres no point arguing, you are in the wrong!

I was under the impression that was only with the speeding check equipment...

Thats wrong, its still 70% of light needs to be let through, but newer cars have a slight tint on the glass anyway, so lets say you put on the 30% tint it can be illegal

exactly, so any additional tint will put it over the limit, the gfs dad works for a window company who put the film between the windscreen glass, ill ask him what the tint % is!

Just apply the van theory...
Anything on the back, light on the front.
