Changing door locks was created by Bee
heres a simple guide on how to change the door locks on a mark 6 escort.
Step One
Undo all the screws around the door card using a phillips screwdriver.
Step Two
pop the plastic covers off the door pocket using a flat head screwdriver and remove the screws behind it.
Step Three (optional)
Remove the window winder using a fork thingy I didn't do this but it makes it easier if you do
Step Four
unclip the door card and remove
Step Five
Undo the screw in the picture below (the lowest screw)
Step Six
Undo the screw in the plastic holder and remove the holder
Step Seven
Remove the metal bracket holding the door lock barrel on
Step Eight
Remove the barrel and unclip the cable
Step Nine (optional)
Clean area where the door lock used to be
Step Ten
Reverse of step 7
Step Eleven
Refit the bracket but be careful to line it up correctly otherwise the lock will not sit flush with the door and move about.
Step Twelve
Complete the steps six to one
Points to note
Use a magentic screwdriver incase you drop the screws into the door itself as it is hard work fishing them out.
Take your time.
I will add my pictures later on
