MIJ have had quite a bad name for a while now both among the modified car sites and from the manufacturer sites like skyline owners.

Best bet would be a powerflow garage, a decat is not much of a job so certainly should not be difficult for them which prevents it being bodged.

You'll find some slightly better response depending on your starting power, and that the car cruises at a steady speed easier. Don't expect too much from letting a bit more air out, you need more fuel to go quicker generally lol. Also before spending on a remap you want upgraded intake, exhaust and cams otherwise your paying a lot of money to gain bugger all.

Custom chrome in Nuneaton, top guys, always had my exhausts done by them as I know them very well

The decat might bump your bhp up but then again you might lose it as mini cooper s's run better with a cat in, but then you don't have too worry about the cat breaking up and being sucked back in and also your exhaust temp will be slightly lower as the cat has to build upto temp for it too work efficiently (around 600 degrees if I recall) and your engine light will more then likely come on and mot will fail unless you know somewhere. But its better for noise (probably more raspy). You will probably notice slightly better throttle response as theres less restriction but a lot of it is physiologic due too more noise

Thanks guys, had this done and the results are better throttle response and a noticeable gain top end, more pops and bangs too :D
I also have put in bigger injectors, intake manifold and throttle body. It has a 4inch jap back box from MIJ which sounds pretty cool. I would like to map it but its very expensive for very little gains.

You should probably have it remapped after having put in the larger injectors. As you can supposedly get more air in now and more fuel... so your likely not making decent use of the new parts.

After having my exhaust off to fit my de-cat, i wouldnt recommend MIJ anymore, after examining it properly, the welding is shocking & the split for the dual pipes is to sudden & doesnt fit the single pipe properly & has just be filled with weld to fill the gap, a proper bodge job.

Me & my mate are having it back off tomorrow to sort it all out & add a small silencer as its proper loud.
