I've heard of people just using wire wool to clean them up, and then in steps using higher grit numbers of wet and dry paper with metal polish.

Yeah thats what I was on about at Leam100, metal polish and wire wool
Woody did it to my exhaust - always disliked the idea thinking it would scratch it to hell but it came out really well (was a long time ago though, as since gone mucky again!)
You can do really heavy on the polishing of your manifold etc, heres some guides:

Seems abit extreme/heavy this one: http://www.supraforums.com.au/forum/und ... parts.html
Or cheat, and just get them powdercoated <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="

Remember some bumper/exterior trim 'Back To Black' will do the job on the black plastics and pipes

Yeah i used metal polish on your focus exhausts to Vlad lol. On polished chrome they do scratch it slightly but for you engine bay it should be ok

Your moving to Southam???
Yeah the manifold etc can be done with metal polish and wire brush, its only stainless steel that youd need to use a cloth
