*Update* Corsa struggling to move was created by richie
Today this happened on the way home from work the car started playing up here are the symtoms
every time i stop it struggles to pull of unless i floor it
the revs at idle sit about 1000 then sometimes drop to about 250 and the engine almost cuts out
if i stay over 2000revs it seems ok
if i rev and stay constant at about 1200revs its pops bangs and back fires and i get popping from the air filter
ive changed all the spark plugs and checks levels and all seems ok
i loose power when i change gear to
any ideas?
its going to the garage tomorrow afternoon

Low compression? Did you gap the new plugs? Head Gasket on its way out? Coil packs?

I've started a thread on a Corsa forum I'm a part of to see what some of the members there think, I'll post back here as soon as anything useful is posted lol

Just got this response straight away for you lol:
"The first thing i thoguht of when reading was idle control valve, but then i read the part about popping through the air filter. The only way this can happen is if the car is igniting the cylinder at the wrong time (when the inlet valve is open on said cylinder). I'd be looking at things like cam and crankshaft sensors.
Simple stuff first, make sure he's put the leads back on in the right order. Does the EML come on?"

Haha not always, but using the old classic paper clip test it's always easy to diagnose what the problem is.
Doesn't work with the 1.2 16v or the 1.0 12v though.
To be honest, depending what engine you have they can vary from being problem after problem to being bullet proof. Luckily I have the X14SZ which if well looked after is the most simplistic easily maintained engines ever made

Well have you tried doing the paperclip test then?
Here's a link to the instructions for it if you don't know how to do it...
