engines run better when the air is cooler/more dence rite? so if i ran a front mounted intercooler on my van and plumed it in with my air intake will it do any thing apart from look cool?

Yes...

Erm... not sure what you're asking mate. If you're thinking of cooling air coming straight from the induction or air inlet then blocking the flow with an intercooler is not cool.

The air from a turbo only gets through the core of the intercooler as it's being forced through by a turbine. Air moving in straight from the outside will have to work very hard to fill the intercooler and get through.

If that's what you're planning to do then I'd say that it will lower the performance of your car.

no! as dave said it needs forcing through the intercooler hence the term forced induction the air needs cooling down as it gets hot when passing through the turbo and being compressed. your cars naturally aspirated if you want a cooler intake simply run an air duct from the front bumper to the filter... or if you really really want an intercooler chop off a leg and arm and get the van a 2.0 turbo lump... C20let i think not sure with vaux lumps

Yes Readie, the turbo lump from that year was a C20LET. The newer ones were Z20LET or Z20LEH.

Incidentally, you just don't need an intercooler if you're not running forced induction.
