would be nice just with more power comes the urge to rag it so if you do just be carefull on hard cornering you dont want to clip them combat bumpers... on the other hand would be a proper show car with the conversion

C20XE engines don't brake easily!! there very good engines and are still used in motorsport today 25 years after they were first produced! i had an c20xe engine with 150K had it rolling roaded and it made 158bhp and was completely standard 8bhp more than they are meant to have standard with a blowing exhaust.. ive had about 5 redtops and with all my mates that have had them we must of been though 40 or 50 of these engines and only 2 have majorly broke one though a rod out the block and one the cambelt snapped due to lack of maintenance.. and we all give them pure abuse

just try and find one with a coscast head or a GM head thats had the oil gallery mod, and don't forget these engines are all 15+ years old now so could all do with a rebuild but ive seen them still going strong with 250K on the clock

they use the c20xe(red top) in jason plato's btcc car

+1 What justin said, they are really strong engines as far as I'm aware! And a grand is way more than you'll need if you ask me, all the stuff for the conversion can be found for about £350 I reckon, and if your gonna pay £650 to have an engine fitted you need your head testing lol <!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: --> Just make sure you upgrade the suspension and brakes as your gonna need a lot more stopping power and your standard 1.4 shocks wont cope with the extra weight/torque yadayadayaaada you get my drift?

mixed feelings on the engine's, mr belmont turbo is a barrell of knowledge, i can only back him up!!! n no probs on the bumop start in tesco the other day mate!!!! lmao!!! if u wanna do it al properly, the whole engine bay needs to be seem welded and strenghtened to cope with the power of the large engine, onlu too prone to snapping cross members, and strut tops have a tendancy to split away from inner wings!!! If ur not sure on the engine then get a cheapo one from the scrappy and sink the cash into rebuilding it!!! will give u lots of knowledge about ur own engine in ur car and also u no that its all been done rather than having to take someone's word for it!!! ive done a couple of them, bout 7yrs ago now tho!!! they really are not a major task, but remember upgrade ur brakes too!!!!

in fine spirits like a dog on heat!!!!

I'm sorry, but where did the information that the C20XE breaks come from? That said though, they'll be rare now.

Incidentally the X25XE was a bag of shit in the biggest way possible.
