It's not worth it IMHO. The work involved would be too much. If you're going to do an engine transplant into a Bora, it'd have to be something silly like the 3.0 TDI already mentioned or a R32 engine or something.

There's a reason people tend not to do engine transplants on Boras. :(

personally id say its not worth it, the 1.6 is around 110bhp and its a relatively big car, not really worth what ull pay on ur insurance extra and the price of the engine plus fitting.
have a look at ur other options, such as the 1.8t very tunable and quiiiiick ! :) , also the 2.0tdi , though a lot of work involved ( may aswell sell and just buy a 2.0tdi ) ur lookin late 100 bhps of just a remap. and low insurance, group 7 i think :s

Yes it is possible, you will need the complete engine and gearbox and clocks and key, but you're clocks and key can be coded if you know someone with vag com.

1.4 is a underpowered lump that drinks fuel with 75bhp, tbh it's one of the worst engines vw produced, even the polo 1.4 had a 100bhp and also has a shoddy gearbox and gearbox in the 1.6 is even worse. I would upgrade to the 1.8 lump if you want normally aspirated with 125bhp. The 2.0 engine is also a weak engine.

Depends on what you want out of you're bora, daily commuter or some power.

I would personally go with the 1.8t, easily tuneable. Here's what you will need of the top of my head.

engine + ancillaries

turbo + manifold + all associated oil/ water feeds and charge / boost pipes + tip

gearbox

driveshafts

hubs + brakes

downpipe + cat + both lambda's

maf and airbox

full front engine loom

ecu + clocks + key - ecu can be de-transpondered to allow it to work with your key+ clocks

all water pipes

fuse carrier on top of battery

starter motor

all engine mounts (to be on the safe side) only gearbox mount is needed

cat back exhaust sytem

front struts

p/s pipes

intercooler

Best of buying a slavage car like i am, keeps cost down and can recoup money by selling parts you don't use.

Or if you're not into switching engines and want the best and most cost effective way you could just sell it and buy a derv which can bought for 3-4k or cheaper depending on mileage. Solid engines and nice power and 47mpg.
