charging problem

the alternator on the sera was completly knackered so replaced it as the charging light kept coming on. then it started running out of power and cut out after a few min. checked the battery and found it was dead so replaced it. now it ran fine all day until i left the meet then it cut out. no idea why it's just cutting out and can't afford an auto sparky so any ideas?

get a multimeter on the battery when the car is running and see if the alternator is actually charging the battery
