Also depending on the problem it could work out cheaper to buy another cd player, whats wrong with it?

Sounds obvious but have you checked all the fuses on the stereo and the cars fuses?

Try your wiring, theres sometimes a fuse further down built into the wires, or could have melted it somewhere! What was going on when it went? To be honest the fuse on the HU itself rarely goes when Ive been messing with them, so could be something internal so could be good as you said to take it somewhere to be looked at.
