SCAM ALERT! MICROSOFT was created by kingie07
In the scam, the victim gets a call from someone posing as a Microsoft employee, who asks for authorization to take over the computer remotely, allegedly to fix a serious problem.
These calls are completely fraudulent.
People with access to your computer may be able to get access to your personal or banking information on the computer.
In this recent report, an unsuspecting resident receives an unsolicited phone call from a person who identifies himself as an employee of Microsoft Windows. The caller requests authorization for remote access to her computer (perhaps to install updates).
These individuals may even attempt to use ‘scare tactics’ in a bid to get users to sign up for their ‘repair’ service. They may make a statement along the line of, “we already know your computer is infected with…. and may be damaged beyond repair unless you sign up and allow us to ‘fix’ the non-existent problem.”
THESE CALLS ARE COMPLETELY FRAUDULENT.
Please be aware that persons granted this type of access to your personal computer have the potential to access your passwords for any number of services you may be using, your banking information, your personal information, etc. Once armed with this information, your bank accounts may be at risk, your identity may be stolen, they may access your credit card information….
If you have been contacted in this manner and been tricked by them you should have your computer checked out by us at ReddiPC. [url:2eosis2v]http://www.reddipc.co.uk[/url:2eosis2v]

I know someone that had a similar phonecall 2-3 years ago, so it does happen and has around a while. There is genuine companies out there but they can't do a top notch job over the phone or via remote assistance anyway imo
