its the same K series and no they still go pop lol
wardy if you want to realy put some omph in to your rover drop a T16 lump in, look on piston heads theres a yellow 200 (old shape) on there going for 400 quid in brum, it used to belong to a chap called tim cleaver from leam and was rapid, buy it as a doner car, then scrap the shell, thing is with buying a doner you will get the brakes, loom, lump, seats infact everything you need to piss off some scooby owners
that particular 200 is running near enough 260 bhp! now thats bargain tuning

+1 on the T16, be prepared for under-steer tho
Heavy lump, but it dont half put out some bhp's, If you put that 260bhp engine in ^ then you'd be looking at about 0-60 time of 6secs

The rover 220 coupe (Tomcat) had a 2.0l turbo engine called the T16 from the T-series of engines, same engine in the 620i, 820 Vitesse and the 420 GSi.
The engines in the ZR are from the K-series line.
For a T16 conversion you'll need to weld a new engine mount into the car (don't know how), then find a donor car, most popular is the 220 coupe as you have absolutely everything you need. Engine, gearbox, wiring loom, brakes etc.
