Peugeot 106 brakes can anybody help!!! was created by mtHDI

My friend recently brought a peugeot 106 and was told his year/ model 106 has shit brakes and none responsive but it passed MOT, even at full travel the brakes would not stop you at standard breaking distance. Can anyone let me no what he needs whether its just pads or new disks, pads and calipers?

calipers should be fine, check for any leakage from around it and the pipes..
If fine, just a decent set of pads/disks.. id say mintex would be the best but someone else may say diff make..

cheers, theres no leakages they just came out the factory with bad breaks and by the looks of things only the pads have been changed a long time ago. So shall i recomend new disks and a decent set of pads, like high speed ones?

While we're on this I need to buy new brake discs and pads for the 205 GTi !
Anyone advise a good make or place to buy from?

depends what model it is, i had a series two and the brakes wernt bad. the gti came with discs all round but people on the 106oc have said that you cant really tell the differance apart from they have ABS.

I think the only thing he can do which doesnt involve to much money is buy new disks and pads, fast road pads n'all just as there better than standard pads.

bleed the brakes all round aswell.. could be alot of air in the system.. the pedal shouldnt travel far

Ok yeh, well i had a drive in it today and the brakes dont ingauge untill the pedal is nearly touching the floor.

yeye.. make sure u bleed the brakes in the right order aswel.. think its normally front left, front right, back left then back right... do it afta you hav fitted new pads/disks though if your deff gonna change um uvawise will be waste of fluid
