WM to go public? - Your views

Currently the forum is in a registered mode, where only people who have registered with us can view and reply to topics
Only selected search engines can view the topics too to index them for keywords etc, but people using these sites still cant view the content without being registered.

In the upcoming revamp we're toying with the idea of making all topics public, so anymone can view the content on the forum but [u:hn2pm69f]must still be registered to post replies[/u:hn2pm69f].
This means all search engines will be able to view the site, and anyone using the search engine can find all the content too.

We're hoping this creates more exposure with people searching for project logs like yours etc, and more freedom to view whats happening on WM without the need to be logged in or registered

[i:hn2pm69f]The idea for WMs revamp is going to be more on general car news, local news and events, and members features. We feel that WM and its audience is evolving, so we're bringing in some changes to reflect that. Also the number of local clubs (and clubs in general) has increased, so narrowing down our focus means we shouldn't overlap or 'compete' with these clubs.[/i:hn2pm69f]

As mentioned in the votes I'll have to do a search back to remove some of the more sensitive topics, or keep certain sections hidden still. Definitely areas like the project logs and galleries etc can go fully public

Yeah this topic doubled up as a heads up, so people know to be careful what they post!
Theres always been a way round some of the blocks (Googles cache for example), but this will free it up entirely
