ok ive found 1 of my OLD amps in the loft, its a 1000w sub zero amp. BUT the power protecion light comes on and it wont work?? any ideas wat i can do? can it be fixd

Sounds like the earth, may need a larger/thicker earth wire.

Woody beat me to it.

Yeh, it'll more than likely be the earth wire. If after fitting a bigger/good earth it still won't turn on, double its usefulness as a handy paperweight...

Again, sounds like the earth wire, but it could be the contact its making with your car thats the issue - is it clear from paint etc? And dirt? Next thing to check is the fuse, see if theres any change when you pull it in and out, if so, the contacts on that might be alittle messy too

Test it with two or three wires if you dont have a thicker one spare

my centre spl1000 does the same. the other runs on the same guage earth cable and there's power. fuse is ok so it's been troubling me for months. hopefully your problems the same so we can both benefit.

Yeah Im guessing it will be the earth folks, it doesnt matter how thick your earth cable is if you havent got a good contact to the metal to ground it all
