Driving with your dog in the car was created by Gritz
Is there any legal requirements for having ur dog passenger in the car ,
ie. dose it need to have a seat belt harness , or can it just sit there ?
obz not on your lap ,
my lill staff likes to have her head out the window but if i see the police i call her down .
I have made her , her own seat belt witch is just the plug thing on a short chain ......
But yeh i was just wondering ?

Only thing to go by is whats in the highway code, other than that theres no law -

"When in a vehicle make sure dogs or other animals are suitably restrained so they cannot distract you while you are driving or injure you, or themselves, if you stop quickly. A seat belt harness, pet carrier, dog cage or dog guard are ways of restraining animals in cars."

So the makeshift seatbelt youve made should be enough

If you are involved in an accident and your dog is unrestrained, you automatically become liable as it is taken that the dog was a contributary factor (obviously if its a rear end shunt / you're stationary then that's different).
